What are Subatomic Particles?

subatomic particles are what they say in the name, particles that are smaller then the atom. There are two different kinds of
subatomic particles, elementary particles which don't consist of multiple kinds of particles and composite particles which
consist of two or more particles. There are over 300 known subatomic particles that have been discovered so far, because there
are so many they are seperated into different groupsparticle-plushies-1.jpg

Quarks:

Quarks are an example of a elementary particle, they are one of the building blocks of matter. Quarks combine to form composite particles called hadrons, the most stable version of these hadrons are the protons and neutrons. There are 6 different forms of quarks, Up,Down ,Top,Bottom,Strange and Charm. The up and down quarks have the the lowest mass of the quarks and the rest of the quarks end up undergoing particle decay so they end up as either up or down quarks. Because of this the top, bottom, strange and charm quarks are rarely found in the universe and are usually only found after high energy collisions.
